Derek joined the Red E team in 2017 as a Manufacturing Engineering Technologist, then transitioned to a Project Engineer role, and is now the Lead Project Engineer focusing on design, prototyping, and manufacturing.

His love of problem-solving combined with his broad range of experience gives him a diverse and well-rounded knowledge base and skill set to successfully design, build and test any device while keeping manufacturability at the forefront of his mind.

You’ll appreciate Derek’s hands-on approach to your project along with his strong ability to communicate with your team effectively.

Derek's Background

Derek grew up farming with his family near Warren, MN. After high school, he headed off to the United States Air Force where he served for 6 years as a Heavy Vehicle and Equipment Technician, was deployed to both Qatar and Iraq, and achieved rank of Staff Sergeant.

After his military service, Derek worked as a Production Painter, Machinist, & Welder in Grand Forks, ND for 9 years while attending classes at UND. After graduation, Derek moved to Fargo and worked in the R&D department of a local window company before joining Red E’s Engineering Team.
